Writing: get to the next level in your writing
Want to get to the next level in your writing?
Signs that you should be aiming higher:* Your writing bores you
* You're not making as much money as you want to be making
* You procrastinate
* You suffer (shock, horror) writer's block
Here's how to get to the next level: start by getting confused.
A few days ago, I wrote about confusion, and why it's good for you.When you're confused, a creative gateway will open, if you allow yourself to stay confused, and don't look for a quick fix. Clarity, inspiration and motivation will emerge. I've found mind mapping helpful, but here's a tip, don't force it. Allow yourself to develop a childlike sense of wonder again. I do it by musing, and reading my archives, then creating mind maps on what I discover. You may prefer to listen to music, draw, or even go to the movies. There are no rules which will help you to get to the next level. If you're seeing the above signs, they're a big clue that you're ready. Just allow yourself to be confused for a while. :-)Re mind mapping, I use various tools, but the program I've found most effective is Tony Buzan's IMindMap. The program's colorful, and tagging your branches with just a single word leads to enhanced creativity.
